Country-music star Randy Travis has been hospitalized in critical condition after contracting a dangerous heart infection.

The Grammy winner, 54 — who pleaded guilty earlier this year to DWI — was admitted to a hospital Sunday in Dallas, his publicist said.

He is suffering from viral cardiomyopathy, which weakens and enlarges the heart muscle.

It can lead to heart failure.
