A rape suspect was busted when two brave strangers recognized his photograph and confronted him in Brooklyn, police said Thursday.
Adonis Cabrera was approached by the eagle-eyed duo — who recognized him this week from police photos and video — and asked him if he was the person cops say followed a 42-year-old woman into a Williamsburg apartment building near Berry and South 10th streets on Sept. 3, authorities said.
Cabrera, 21, allegedly took off, but the two men gave chase, following him to a construction site on Kent Avenue.
Hardhats there joined in on the attempt to hold the man until police arrived.
Cabrera was able to get away but left behind his backpack, which contained his ID, police said.
On Wednesday, police showed up at his Harlem workplace and arrested him when he showed up for his shift. He was charged with attempted rape, forcible touching and sex abuse, police said.
Cabrera, who lives in the Bronx, was previously arrested for grand larceny in 2016, burglary in 2014 and possession of a forged instrument in 2013, cops said. Some additional arrests are sealed.
