Rapper Busta Rhymes was hit with three assault charges Tuesday after he allegedly lashed out at his assistant for being on his phone during work, law enforcement sources tell The Post.
Cops said Rhymes punched the 50-year-old in the face several times, leaving him with swelling in his left eye.
Rhymes, 52, whose real name is Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr., turned himself in after the Jan. 10 incident, which took place inside a luxe condominium complex — J Condominium — in Dumbo, according to sources.
Busta Rhymes was hit with 3 assault charges. WireImageReached by phone by The Post Thursday, the hip-hop star’s alleged victim, Dashiel Gables, said his lawyer told him not to talk to the press.
Gables then added: “Maybe later. Maybe in the future. I can’t mess up my case, bro. It’s just not going to be worth it. An article in the paper as opposed to a six or seven-million-dollar settlement? I’m not risking it, sorry.”
The Brooklyn-born “Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check” rapper has had a number of brushes with NYC law enforcement on weapons and assault charges, as well as traffic violations.
Rhymes was slapped with a DWI in May 2007 after cops spotted the Grammy-nominee’s GMC Denali SUV driving erratically and pulled him over at the intersection of 51st Street and Eleventh Avenue in Manhattan.
In 2015, the “Break Ya Neck” artist was arrested after allegedly hurling a 17-ounce strawberry protein drink at an employee at a Chelsea gym, striking him in the back of the head.
Last year, he threw another beverage — this time in the face of a female fan who smacked his rear-end. The woman later apologized on social media.
His next court appearance stemming from the alleged assault will be Feb. 2.
