With top Democrats calling for him to quickly take over the reins of state government, Lt. Gov. Richard Ravitch insisted he’s not readying himself for Gov. Paterson’s job.
“Absolutely not,” Ravitch said, when asked if he’s being advised on stepping in for the scandal-scarred governor.
“I’ve had no discussions with anybody about that,” he said.
He said he’s focused on the budget.
“I’m going to continue to work on the budget as best as I can now.”
Asked if he’s prepared to become governor if Paterson exits — as some elected officials are calling for — Ravitch, said, “I have no reason to believe that will come to pass. I am not contemplating it.”
