CUNY adjunct professors are getting a hefty raise — but a band of rebel profs give the new contract an F.

The faculty union and CUNY reached a tentative deal on Oct. 23 that calls for raising the minimum per-class pay for adjuncts to $5,500 from $3,222, which phases in at the end of the five-year agreement in 2022.

The union’s delegate assembly will vote Thursday on recommending the agreement to its 30,000 members for a ratification vote.

But a rebel group called $7K or Strike is demanding a raise to $7,000 a class and is urging members of the union to vote no to the contract proposal, saying it will not provide a living wage.

“If we want to build a CUNY where professors can teach without worrying about going into debt or living on foods stamps, then we must reject this contract and send our bargaining team back to the table,” said Sami Disu, a group member and John Jay College adjunct.

The board of the public university system must also approve the contract agreement.
