You can’t keep Regis Philbin down for long.
The talk-show legend — who’s ending his 28-year run on “Live!” this morning — looked like he might be a scratch for his big farewell after he took a nasty spill outside the Ed Sullivan Theater last night.
Philbin, 80, was filming a bit driving a Vespa during an appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman,” but made it only a few feet before the scooter tipped over.
Letterman, one of the Bronx native’s biggest boosters, helped Regis up — and then took him for a ride on the Vespa as a passenger.
The late-night funnyman went on Philbin’s show a day earlier, displaying his love for Reeg by giving him a full-on kiss on the lips at the end of his appearance on “Live! With Regis and Kelly.”
Philbin holds the Guinness world record for Most Hours Spent in Front of a TV Camera — well over 17,000.
He has described his departure from the show as a leave, because he doesn’t like the word retirement.
