The Republican leader of the New York Senate joked Monday that he’s willing to take flak to get Gov. Andrew Cuomo a new government plane because the current one is way past its prime and he’s got to fly on it.
Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan, during an unrelated press conference at the Nassau Coliseum, complained about the aging state aircraft.
“He and I are traveling back to Albany after the event. The last time we went on it, we prayed for a good trip,” said Flanagan, who represents part of Suffolk County.
Flanagan quipped that he preferred to travel in a plane that is “less than 35 years old … I will get criticized for that.”
