A good Samaritan saved an elderly neighbor from a raging Brooklyn house fire early yesterday but was unable to save the woman’s husband and dog, authorities said.

The blaze broke out when a toaster oven ignited at around 3 a.m., trapping the couple inside the home on East 66th Street in Mill Basin, cops said.

Neighbor Ash Wechsler, 31, was in bed when he heard glass breaking and quickly donned clothes and darted over to the burning house.

“I saw her standing in the doorway, so I grabbed her hand and helped her out,” said Wechsler, a locksmith.

Seconds after a neighbor pulled Marilyn Wald, 71, from the burning home, it was engulfed in flames.

Her husband, Heywood Wald, 80, died trying to save the couple’s beloved chihuahua, Gizmo, police said

Marilyn Wald was treated for burns.
