Firefighters had to smash through a wall at the New York Times building yesterday to rescue a man stuck in an express elevator.
The man became trapped at about 10:20 a.m. when the car stalled around the 11th floor in an area of the shaft with no doors.
A firefighter said the man was “a little shaken up” but declined medical treatment.
The city Buildings Department is investigating the incident.
The elevators are maintained by Fujitec, an Ohio-based company.
