A retired NYPD captain will take over as the department’s new top spokesman, the Post has learned.

Steve Davis, who served under the Deputy Commissioner for Public Information more than 20 years ago, is preparing to take over the office that provides information to the media, sources told the Post.

The department has not officially announced the move but several sources confirmed that Davis, who retired as a captain in that office in 1991, is top cop Bill Bratton’s pick for the post.
