A retired NYPD officer committed suicide at his home on Long Island Thursday, sources told The Post.

Officer Daniel Shirreffs, 46, who was assigned to the Driver Training Bureau, took his own life in his Seaford home, law enforcement sources said.

He had been with the NYPD for over 20 years, a friend wrote online.

Shirreffs’ death comes just three days after veteran NYPD Detective Paul Federico, 53, hung himself in his Queens home in Middle Village.

Last year, ten active-duty NYPD officers committed suicide, double the rate of previous years.

On Tuesday, the NYPD announced that it had hired a head psychologist to help combat the spate of cop suicides.

The department had previously launched a prevention program called “Finest Care” in partnership with New York-Presbyterian, offering free counseling and medication to officers.

Shirreffs’ funeral will be held Feb. 24 in Farmingdale. His family has asked for donations to Tunnel2Towers in lieu of flowers.
