Richard O’Neill, a one-time vice president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, died Thursday at the age of 77.

O’Neill, a 37-year veteran of the NYPD who also served in the U.S. Army, passed from natural causes.

A tribute provided by O’Neill’s family remembers him as a “loyal friend to many.”

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and four children, Michael, Kevin, Christine, and Kelly.

A wake will be held at the Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 321 South Main Street, New City, NY, on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

O’Neill’s funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at St. Augustine’s Parish, 140 Maple Avenue, New City, NY.
