The buses are getting just as scary as the subways.

Police said an MTA driver operating the M14D bus in Alphabet City was engaged with a customer while the vehicle was at the corner of 14th Street and Avenue A, when a 24-year-old man approached the driver and punched him in the face at 8:10 a.m. Saturday.

The driver suffered pain but refused medical attention.

A fellow bus driver said he saw police in hot pursuit of the sucker puncher.

“They chased him down the block,” he said. “It looked kind of hilarious.”

A porter working the door at 433 E. 13 St. said the attacker tried to escape into his building but was nabbed by police.

“He tried to run into the building, and they took him down to the floor and arrested him,” said the doorman, who wouldn’t provide his name.

Police have not yet released the name of the attacker.
