A Rikers Island inmate claims a guard told fellow jailbirds to scald him as part of a twisted “Fight Club”-style initiation ritual.
James Parker, who is locked up for allegedly punching his girlfriend, says in a notice of claim against the city that a correction officer named Blanche told him: “I will not give you an easy pass out of this dorm here. You are going to have to fight your way out.” Parker says he tried to report the threat to at least three Rikers employees, but they did nothing.
Then at 12:44 p.m. May 30, other inmates threw hot liquid on Parker, 40. He suffered third-degree burns to his neck, arms, face, head, ears, shoulder and back.
