The man who acted as a lookout for the robbery that ended in the death of NYPD Detective Brian Simonsen was indicted by the Queens District Attorney’s Office on Thursday.
Jagger Freeman, 25, had already been criminally charged with 13 counts, including felony murder, for his role in the robbery at his arraignment in Queens Criminal Court on Sunday.
Queens DA Richard Brown announced his indictment, usually a court formality, in a statement Thursday.
“In regards to defendant Jagger Freeman, 25, charged in criminal court in the death of an NYPD detective and wounding of an NYPD sergeant, the Queens District Attorney’s Office has filed a notice of voted indictment with the court,” the statement said.
Freeman allegedly acted as a lookout while Christopher Ransom robbed a T-Mobile store in Richmond Hill Queens with a phony pistol. When Ransom pointed the fake gun at responding cops, they opened fire, fatally shooting Simonsen, authorities say.
Freeman was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Sunday.
