The 7 train — which will soon have a new stop on 34th Street and 11th Avenue — could be extended even further down into Chelsea if the head of the MTA has his way.
Joseph Lhota said extending the 7 train down to 23rd Street and 11th Avenue is on his “wish list.”
“It’s something I think that makes sense if you look at the demographics of the West Side,” Lhota said yesterday following the Regional Plan Association transportation conference.
Mayor Bloomberg has long dreamed of sending the 7 train to New Jersey, a plan that Lhota recently said was unlikely to happen “in our lifetime.”
