Unused time on muni meters can now be transferred to other parking spaces under a bill unanimously passed by the City Council yesterday.

The legislation allows motorists to use any leftover time for another parking spot with the same muni-meter rate elsewhere in the city.

“People who are running errands should be able to buy time once and use that time for any spot with the same meter rate. At the end of the day, this is the driver’s money we are talking about,” said Councilman James Vacca, who chairs the Transportation Committee.
