For the past couple of days we have been experiencing rough seas here in the Atlantic. Sometimes when the ship is at high seas you can actually feel the ship levitating and crashing back down into the waves. I’ve never gotten sea sick. I actually enjoy rough seas because when the boat rocks it helps me sleep better.

When the weather cleared we conducted flight ops. Before I became an OS, I was an undesignated seaman in Deck Department on the USS Gunston Hall. Part of Deck’s responsibility on that ship is to assist helicopters landing. I was part of the flight crew in the helo tower. I remember the first time I had witnessed a helo landing on deck in front of me, it took my breath away!
