A scholarship has been established in memory of the Rutgers student whose suicide last year sparked a national discussion about the bullying of gay youth.

The Point Foundation says the Tyler Clementi Point Scholarship will be awarded to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students.

Clementi killed himself in September 2010, days after his roommate and another student at Rutgers University allegedly used a Web cam to spy on him during a liaison with a man. Lawyers for the two suspects have said they’re not guilty of any crime.
