An elderly woman jumped to her death from an Upper East Side apartment building this morning, authorities said.

Ingeborg Mende, 81, allegedly jumped from her third floor apartment on East 88th Street near 1st Avenue just before 11:30 a.m.

She had lived there for at least 40 years.

“She seemed sad; she was always alone,” said Sigi Lavarde the building’s super.

Police said that the medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
