Heading upstream

A 21-year-old thief was arrested on Jan. 29 when he was caught trying to make off with $125 worth of salmon from the Avenue Y Stop & Shop.

Workers told police that the thief was caught trying to flee the supermarket, which is at E. 17th Street, at 9:30 pm with nine packages of salmon stuffed in his jacket.

Headphone grab

A quick-moving thug ripped a pair of pricey headphones from a 16-year-old’s head during an confrontation on Gravesend Neck Road.

The victim was nearing E. 22nd Street just before 10 am when the thief ran up behind him and plucked the $200 headphones off his head.

When the victim balked, the thief reached into his pocket as if he had a gun and screamed, “Do you want to get shot?”

Painted hearts

A tagger was arrested on Shore Parkway on Jan. 26 after he was caught scrawling out a missive to his girlfriend.

The 24-year-old vandal was nabbed spray painting the wall to a highway underpass near Knapp Street at 4 am. Once cops grabbed him, he admitted to the crime, claiming that the graffiti was a “tribute” to his girlfriend.

Car cracker

A thief broke into a 2004 Toyota Corolla parked on West End Avenue on Jan. 25, taking a woman’s handbag.

The owner of the car told police she left the car parked between Cass Place and Hampton Avenue in Manhattan Beach at 5:55 pm to pick up her child from daycare.

She returned a few minutes later to find the passenger window shattered and the cabin looted.

Navigation swipe

A thief broke into a 2001 Honda parked on Coyle Street on Jan. 29, taking a Garmin navigation system.

The victim left the car parked between Avenues X and Y at 7 pm. When the owner returned to the car at 11:15 am the next morning, the passenger side window was broken and the navigation system was missing.

Shot dead

A gunman shot a 23-year-old in the back of the head — killing him — during a furious Jan. 23 exchange outside the Marlboro Houses.

Residents told police that the victim, who was identified as Avenue W resident Eric Ramirez, was found sprawled out behind a W. 11th Street building at 11:33 am. He was rushed to Lutheran Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.

Still more break-ins

No neighborhood was safe from car looters last week — not even Gerritsen Beach.

A 29-year-old owner of a 2009 Honda told police that someone smashed the front passenger window of his car as it sat parked near the corner of Gerritsen and Bijou avenues on Jan. 27 and removed a navigation system and a pair of sunglasses. The theft wasn’t discovered until he returned to the car at 8 am the next morning.

Cell grab

A sticky-fingered goon made off with a 60-year-old man’s Blackberry cellphone on Jan. 30 as his victim partied at the club Nirvana on Coney Island Avenue.

The victim said he was hanging out at the hot spot near Avenue U at 1:30 am when he put his phone on the table. He then turned to speak to a friend — giving the thief enough time to snag it, the victim told police.

Money grabber

A thief dressed as a Hasidic man is being sought for raiding a 79th Street store on Jan. 19.

Employees at the store, which is at 16th Avenue, said the suspect barreled in at 10:40 am and grabbed a worker by the arm.

“Where’s the money? Where’s the money?” the thief demanded, before plucking $300 from the till.

X rob

A thief jumped a 28-year-old woman on Avenue X on Jan. 20, taking her handbag.

The woman was near Stryker Street as she was walking home from a nearby train station at 4:15 am when the thief grabbed her from behind.

“Don’t turn around, I have a gun,” the thief said, as he pushed the woman to the ground and ran off with her bag.

Flower pot flinger

Talk about flower power! An unhinged thug tossed a flower pot into a Manhattan Beach home on Jan. 20 after calling the homeowner a cyber-menace.

The 37-year-old victim was inside his Langham Street address at 6:24 pm when the flower pot came crashing through the window.

“Stay off the computer or I will break you f–king fingers!” the abor-abuser screamed before running off.

Cold feet

Two thugs jumped an 18-year-old on Ocean Avenue on Jan. 27, taking his sneakers, iPhone and coat.

The victim sustained cuts to his face, arms and torso as he tried to fight off the suspects near Kings Highway — one of which was armed with a boxcutter.

Henry’s hooligans

A crew of thieves broke into Henry’s Deli on Avenue S on Jan. 28 and cleaned the place out of cash, cigarettes and New York Lottery scratch-offs.

Workers said they closed the eatery, which is between E. 29th Street and Nostrand Avenue, at 6:15 pm. Within the next 12 hours someone forced open a rear window, snuck in, and made off with the loot.

Madison menaces

Three James Madison High School students beat a classmate during a botched attempted robbery on school grounds on Jan. 24.

The victim told police that he was walking up a stairwell inside the Bedford Avenue school, which is between Avenue P and Quentin Road, at 10 am when the thugs attacked, punching him in the face as they ordered him to empty his pockets.

After landing a few punches, the thieves ran off empty-handed, police were told.

Bag pincher pinched

A thief was busted for trying to swipe a woman’s handbag at the Kings Highway train station on Jan. 26, but she didn’t go quietly.

The police reportedly spotted the 46-year-old crook follow the woman up the stairs to the elevated train station, which is at E. 16th Street, at 8:50 am and grab hold of the bag in an attempt to steal a bank card.

Cops were quick to swoop in and arrest the bag grabber, who refused to be handcuffed.

Home raided

A thief crept into an E. Second Street home on Jan. 20, taking a flatscreen television, computer, video game console and some jewelry.

The victim returned to her home, which is between Quentin Road and Kings Highway, at 11 pm — only to find the place ransacked, she told police.

Locker looter

A thief broke into a gym locker inside the Lucille Roberts on Kings Highway on Jan. 29, taking $10 and a credit card.

The 20-year-old victim secured the lock to her locker inside the gym, which is at E. 10th Street, at 9 am. She returned an hour later to find her locker open and empty. Her lock was missing, she told police.

Mirror menace

A thief swiped the side view mirrors off a 2003 Mercedes Benz sitting parked on E. Third Street on Jan. 29.

The 33-year-old owner of the car left it parked between Avenue P and Quentin Road at 4 pm. The mirrors were discovered missing when the owner returned to the car by 11:50 am the next day.

Train tagger nabbed

Well, now we know where to get the subway.

A dopey 15-year-old graffiti tagger was busted at the Kings Highway station on Jan. 29 — for spray painting the word “TRAIN” on a walkway wall. Apparently the word “Subway” was too complicated to spell.

Bias attack on BMW

A week-old attack on a 2011 BMW is being investigated as a bias crime, officials said.

The new luxury car was sitting parked on E. 13th Street on Jan. 13 when someone swiped the side view mirrors, splashed the rear window with black paint and scratched a swastika into the hood.

The 40-year-old owner told police he parked his vehicle between Avenues S and T at 10:15 pm. When he returned to it at 7:30 am the following morning, the vandals had already left their fear-filled message.

Beaten with pipe

Two thugs jumped a 60-year-old man on E. 12th Street on Jan. 21 — attacking him mercilessly with a metal pipe.

The victim was nearing his home, which is between Avenues T and U, at 11:56 am when the duo walked by him, calling him by name.

Seconds later they attacked, leaving the victim with a smattering of injuries.

Sidekick swipe

A sticky-fingered student snagged a T-Mobile Sidekick cellphone from a classmate’s locker inside Marine Park Junior High School on Jan. 28.

The 14-year-old victim left the phone inside her locker at the Stuart Street school at 10:21 am, but found it gone when she returned to get it an hour later.
