A gang of greedy mobsters shook down local unions, handed out no-show jobs and turned Little Italy’s famed San Gennaro Festival into their personal collection plate, authorities said yesterday.
Eleven people — including made members and associates of the Genovese crime family — were indicted and arrested on charges including racketeering conspiracy, extortion, illegal gambling, union embezzlement and obstruction of justice.
Among those busted was Conrad Ianniello, 68, a reputed Genovese captain and the nephew of Matthew “Matty the Horse” Ianniello, 92, onetime acting boss of the Genovese family.
