Scam rolls sushi diners
Two Manhattan sushi-restaurant workers were busted after they scammed numerous customers out of about $60,000 using a credit-card skimmer, authorities said yesterday.
Ikumi Kudo, 23, and Jungil Jwa, 30, were arrested Friday after Citibank found that 38 of its accounts had been compromised following purchases at Kaiten Sushi East Restaurant on Third Avenue near East 26th Street, where the suspects had worked for about a year, sources said. Between Oct. 16 and Jan. 8, either one or both of the alleged thieves had been working on the dates and times of the 38 purchases, the sources said.
The two were charged with identity theft, grand larceny and criminal possession of forgery devices.
