An NYPD school safety agent was arrested for running a bail money scam that took in nearly $10,000 from an elderly woman, cops said Monday.
Jarilsa Gaton was taken into custody around 9:30 a.m. Monday for allegedly swindling the 80-year-old victim on Nov. 23 by falsely telling her that her rabbi had been arrested and that he needed some cash to make bail, cops said.
Gaton, 28, was caught on camera at the bank withdrawing the money on the same day that it was transferred into her account, cops said.
The agent was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, police said.
