Sen. Charles Schumer said Tuesday he’s gone to the Capitol Police about a bogus sexual-harassment complaint that has been circulated to the media in an apparent attempt to smear him.
Several news organizations have been sent papers purporting to be a federal lawsuit — using the name of a real former Schumer staffer — accusing him of lurid behavior.
But the former Schumer employee named in the “suit” told The Post she has not filed any such complaint. Schumer and the woman have both gone to police.
“The claims in this document are completely false, my signature is forged and even basic facts about me are wrong,” the former staffer said. The purported complaint includes several easily debunked inaccuracies, according to Schumer’s office.
