A Bronx Supreme Court handyman is blasting his own union, claiming it made it nearly impossible for members to vote on the next state contract — a deal he thinks will hurt workers.

Jason Castro, who has paid dues to DC 37 Local 1070 since 2006, said Sunday the union is disenfranchising its members by holding a contract vote in only one lower Manhattan location at an inconvenient time, especially for those who work in the outer boroughs. To top it off, the local isn’t allowing mail-in ballots.

“We feel like we’re getting screwed,” said Castro, 31, of Yonkers.

“We want paper ballots. We’ve got people from Queens, from The Bronx and from Staten Island. We can’t all get to it. We’re not happy.”

The vote is being held between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Nov. 25 at 125 Barclay St.

“It’s to rig the election,” claimed Castro, who said he intends to vote.

Most unions allow their members to vote on contracts with paper ballots, but not all do, said several labor sources.

Local 1070 President Fausto Sabatino did not return calls for comment.
