Two of the cops who opened fire on Sean Bell will speak publicly today for the first time about the deadly 2006 incident that gave the Police Department a black eye, sources said.
Detectives Gescard Isnora and Michael Carey were among five officers who fired 50 shots at a car carrying Bell and two friends who had just left Bell’s bachelor party at a Queens strip club.
For years, the cops have hidden behind their lawyers, who said the officers unloaded on the car because they thought one of the passengers had a gun.
No weapon was ever found.
The cops are facing a disciplinary hearing that could result in their dismissal.
Bell, 23, was scheduled to be married just hours later.
His fiancée, Nicole Paultre-Bell, who took Bell’s name after his death, was at Police Plaza for the hearing yesterday, with the Rev. Al Sharpton, a family supporter.
