A second young military hopeful died yesterday after getting pulled out unconscious from a Staten Island pool last week.
Jonathan Proce, 21, died with his family at his side yesterday morning at NY Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, said Paul Tallaksen, an associate pastor at the family’s Evangelical church.
Proce and his buddy Bohdan Vitenko were practicing breath-holding exercises at the shallow end of Lyons Pool, in Tompkinsville, when they went into cardiac arrest. Vitenko died soon afterwards.
“He loved this country and wanted to join the Air Force Pararescue because he really wanted to make a difference in the lives of other people,” Tallaksen said.
