A Washington Heights councilman yesterday criticized a city plan to get more yellow cabs to go there and to the outer boroughs, saying it would destroy the livery-car industry.
“For years, you would never be able to find a yellow taxi in northern Manhattan and the outer boroughs, but all of us still had to get around somehow,” said Ydanis Rodriguez, a Democrat.
“The livery-cab industry,” he noted, “developed to take care of that need.”
