Rival for city comptroller.

New York’s top female politician stuck it to Eliot Spitzer yesterday.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand endorsed rival Scott Stringer over Spitzer in the heated contest for comptroller — settling an old score with Spitzer after he insulted her as “too malleable” when she was appointed to the Senate.
“Scott has been a tireless and dedicated public servant, and he has the temperament and judgment to be a first-rate fiscal watchdog for the taxpayers of New York City,” Gillibrand said in a press release, hours before the NYC branch of National Organization of Women, NARAL New York and Planned Parenthood endorsed him as well.
Spitzer’s campaign dismissed the moves.
“While we have a deep respect for the organizations and individuals involved, we know that endorsements don’t vote; voters do,” said Miram Hess, a Spitzer campaign strategist who worked for NARAL/NY. “No one has better record on reproductive and women’s rights than Eliot Spitzer.”
