A 71-year-old man and 63-year-old woman were shot on a Staten Island street Sunday evening, authorities said.

The victims were in front of 224 Jersey St. near Crescent Avenue at approximately 5:30 p.m. when a gunman opened fire. The man was shot in the stomach, the woman in the arm.

They were rushed to Richmond University Medical Center and both were expected to survive.

It remains unclear if the victims were the intended targets or innocent bystanders.

There were no arrests and police were still searching for the gunman.
