Sentencing for con man
A con man whose tall tales of owning luxury planes, cars and a sailboat helped him dupe women out of their money faces sentencing to federal prison today.
Scott Hockler, 50, of Westchester, pleaded guilty last year to scamming one lover, Manhattan acoustic-design firm CEO Victoria Cerami, 53, out of $100,000 by promising to invest in silver coins.
Other women have since come forward, including Holly Weissman, who alleged Hockler swindled $500,000 from her.
Manhattan federal Judge Denise Cote has said she’ll likely sentence him to more than the plea deal’s suggested maximum of 18 months.
