A notorious bus and train thief who suffers from a developmental disability and a fascination for planes, trains, and automobiles has been found fit to testify before a grand jury in his most recent case.
Darius McCollum — who has been nabbed nearly 30 times for transportation related offenses — most recently jacked a Greyhound bus from a Port Authority depot in November, police have said.
In the past, McCollum, who has the autism spectrum disorder Asperger’s Syndrome, has in the past impersonated a subway worker, driven a bus from Harlem to Queens Village, and steered passenger- filled E train from Penn Station to the World Trade Center.
Bail has been set at $50,000, and McCollum remains behind bars. His next court appearance is March 21.
