Seven women have filed to drop the name Isis, an Egyptian goddess’ name now known as the acronym of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. Their new names are Aaruschi, Nefertiti, Hesielle, Ruby, Alexa, Sara and Luz.

“You certainly couldn’t live life with that name,” said attorney Charles DeStefano, who has filed many name-change petitions for clients.

“Do you really want to be associated with a terrorist organization? It’s like being born with the name Stalin.”
