A fire in a West Bronx apartment building left five people injured, including one seriously, authorities said Monday.

The blaze started around 1:25 p.m. in apartment 2S on the second floor of the six-story building at 2780 University Ave. in Kingsbridge Heights, a Fire Department spokesman said. A total of 12 units with more than 60 firefighters responded and brought the fire under control just over an hour later.

Authorities said four of the victims suffered minor injuries, including a firefighter. A fifth person was listed in serious, life-threatening condition.

EMS transported three of the victims to Jacobi Medical Center.
