ALBANY — The state ethics board has accepted the resignation of a commissioner appointed by Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, who was recently criticized in a board report about sexual harassment.

Patrick J. Bulgero’s resignation from the Joint Commission on Public Ethics will be effective Tuesday.

Chairman Daniel Horwitz thanked Bulgero for his service over two years and wished him well.

That tenure includes an investigation critical of Silver for crafting a secret $103,000 settlement to end a group of sexual-harassment accusations against Assemblyman Vito Lopez.
