You could write a sonnet about this spectacular Easter bonnet with every frill imaginable upon it as Vanessa Sterbenz promenades along Fifth Avenue at yesterday’s Easter Parade.

But New York’s Timothy Cardinal Dolan wasn’t in that cheerful a mood as he blasted President Obama for making a “radical intrusion” into the Catholic Church with his policy requiring religious employers to cover birth control for workers.

“We didn’t ask for the fight — I don’t enjoy it at all — but we’re not going to back away from it,” a combative Dolan said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“You’ve got a dramatic, radical intrusion of a government bureaucracy into the internal life of the church,” Dolan said.

“Our problem is the government is intruding into the life of faith in the church that they shouldn’t be doing.”
