A shoplifter beat a Brooklyn laundromat worker with a hammer when the employee caught him red-handed last week, new video shows.
The suspect entered the Aqua Wash laundromat on East 98th Street near Livonia Avenue in Brownsville just before 5 a.m. Thursday, cops said.
Footage released late Tuesday shows him going to the back of the store, where cops say he attempted to snatch up some items – which appeared to include a few bottles of bleach – without paying.
The suspect used a hammer that belonged to the store to brutally attack a 70-year-old worker. DCPIAt that point, the worker, a 70-year-old man, tried to stop him, cops said.
The suspect grabbed a hammer that belonged to the store and struck the worker about four times over the head – as the senior grabbed hold of him and tried to stop him, according to cops and the footage.
The suspect stumbled and dropped his loot on the floor, but allegedly took off with the hammer.

Police are still looking for the suspect, shown wearing a light green shirt, dark red shorts and yellow cap.
