Shot kid, 5, out of hosp
The 5-year-old niece of an NYPD officer was released from the hospital yesterday, more than a week after she was hit by a stray bullet in Brooklyn.
“She’s all right, but she’s still a little shaken up by it,” Syniah Herndon’s grandmother Jennifer Gregg said last night.
Syniah had been playing a game of tag in broad daylight near her home on Halsey Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant on April 11 when a gunman opened fire, striking her and two men.
Syniah told her mom right after the shooting that she would be too afraid to go back outside.
The girl took a slug in her left leg and yesterday had to use a walker to leave Kings County Hospital.
Also wounded in the shooting were Jamel Franklin, 20, and Darnell Billinghurst, 23.
It’s still not cleat who the gunman’s intended target was.
The NYPD brought in a man for questioning yesterday, but no charges were filed.
