Gunfire erupted near Brooklyn College Tuesday afternoon following an attempted robbery, police sources said.

The incident happened at E. 27th Street and Campus Road, near the Brooklyn College library, around 4 p.m., the sources said. There were no injuries.

The shots were fired after the victim of a failed robbery attempt returned to the scene with a friend who had a handgun to confront the goons who tried to mug him, the sources said. The wanna-be robbers had apparently used a fake gun.

Two people were taken into custody at the scene, police said.

Charges were still pending as of Tuesday evening.
