A Staten Island man was convicted yesterday of lying to FBI agents investigating his efforts to join jihadist groups overseas.

Abdel Hameed Shehadeh, 23, a US citizen born in New York, was stopped by the feds on several occasions as he tried to fly to Pakistan.

A Brooklyn federal jury convicted him of lying to agents during a terror probe, before he eventually admitted that he had hoped to join the Taliban in Pakistan or fight alongside separatists in Chechnya.

Shehadeh will face up to 21 years in prison when he is sentenced by Judge Eric Vitaliano.
