The summer’s first heat-related death occurred in Staten Island last week, officials said.

The 57-year-old man, whose name has not been released, died July 8, of hyperthermia, or overheating, the Medical Examiner’s Office announced today.

The news comes as the city struggles to cope with another brutal week-long heat wave with the summer’s highest temperatures this year.

Though the victim is from the Sandy-battered borough, he was not in one of several areas that have suffered power outages this month, sources said.
