An early-morning fire in a Staten Island home killed a 53-year-old state correction officer yesterday, authorities said.

Daniel Richmond’s Westervelt Avenue residence was engulfed by flames a little after 3 a.m.

“They’re saying he fell asleep and there were too many wires . . . space heaters . . . plugged in all over,” said his brother, Van Moby.
