SI pier collapse
A Staten Island pier was badly damaged yesterday after a pylon collapsed — sending the structure sagging into the water.
The collapse occurred at 2:15 p.m. at the Cromwell Center along Pier 6 near Bay and Hannah streets in Tompkinsville, according to the FDNY.
The pier, which is run by the city and was empty at the time, is undergoing renovations.
