A Staten Island high school teacher was hospitalized today after a portion of the school’s roof collapsed and came crashing through the auditorium ceiling, authorities said.
The 15-by-40-foot section of cinderblock wall on top of Tottenville High School, on Luten Avenue in Huguenot, fell down at about 2:20 p.m., according to fire officials.
Debris then dropped into the auditorium, where the teacher was standing on the stage, said an FDNY spokesman.
The woman, who was startled but not struck, was taken to Staten Island University Hospital for evaluation.
No students were in the auditorium at the time of the accident.
