The stink pile is shrinking.

Sanitation Commissioner John Doherty yesterday said the department is playing catch-up with tons of garbage left since the Dec. 26 blizzard.

“By the end of [last night], we’ll have one collection on refuse for everybody in the city,” he vowed, with today’s snow determining “how quickly we can move on continuing with our refuse and recycling collection.”
