Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver hosted a fund-raiser for congressional hopeful Grace Meng on yesterday’s anniversary of 9/11 — an event her political rival called “disgraceful.’’

“It’s not a day for politicians. It’s a day for remembrance,” said Steven Sites, spokesman for the GOP candidate, Councilman Dan Halloran.

Sites also criticized Meng, a strong supporter of women’s rights, for letting Silver, who is caught up in the Vito Lopez sex scandal, host her event.

Meng, whose dad is a former assemblyman accused of soliciting a bribe, attended several 9/11 events, her spokesman said.

“One of those events was a lunch with Speaker Silver where Grace had the opportunity to share her [9/11] remembrances,” said Austin Finan.
