ALBANY — Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver’s top spokesperson, Dan Weiller, is leaving to join the lobbying firm of his predecessor.

Patricia Lynch Associates, headed by the longtime Silver adviser and confidante of the same name, announced yesterday that it had hired Silver press secretary Weiller to serve as managing director for its public-relations unit.

Lynch founded the firm in 2001 and parlayed her connections to the speaker to make it one of Albany’s top-earning lobbying houses.

In 2009, the firm raked in $8.5 million — making it Albany’s second-largest firm — and represented 159 clients, including Coca-Cola, Wal-Mart and the Empire State Pride Agenda.

Weiller reported to Lynch during an earlier stint in the speaker’s press office and later fielded press calls for former state Comptroller Alan Hevesi.

In 2007, he rejoined the speaker’s office, where he earned an annual salary of $120,000.
