A pair of Manhattan sisters turned their Lower East Side apartment building’s roof into their own personal fiefdom, a landlord claims.

Real estate agent Hana McGrath and her sibling Rachel allegedly used the roof at 169 East Broadway to grow crops, host for-profit dinners, and as a bathroom for their dog-sitting business.

The sisters each have an apartment in the five-story tenement-style building, where the roof is supposed to be off limits, landlord CJK Real Estate said in a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit.

Yet the McGraths “created areas for growing crops in oversize planters filled with soil,” then watered those plants, damaging the roof, the suit charges. They ran hoses through their apartments and stored thousands of pounds of materials there, according to court papers.

The two ran a pet-sitting business out of their homes without permission, and then let the pups “defecate and urinate on the roof,” the landlord charges.

When they weren’t treating the roof like a urinal, the women allegedly “created areas for dining and impromptu gatherings and charged attendees a fee,” CJK Real Estate charged.

The women also blocked fire escapes, and sublet their apartments without permission, according to the lawsuit.

Hana McGrath owes $20,000 in back rent, while Rachel owes more than $17,000, the landlord claims. They were paying between $1,800 and $1,900 a month each.

Both sisters and the landlord have been duking it out in Manhattan Housing Court, where a judge recently ordered Rachel McGrath to give up her apartment after she lost a bid to keep the space rent-stabilized.

The McGraths didn’t return messages.
