NEWARK — Six people were shot and wounded Monday afternoon at a public housing complex in Newark’s North Ward, police said.

The shots rang out around 2:00 p.m. in the Kensco Village apartment complex. There have been no arrests and the motive is not yet known, The New Jersey Star-Ledger reported.

The victims range in age between 17 and 27 and were taken to University Hospital, the newspaper said. Their conditions are unknown.

Neighbors told the Star-Ledger they heard at least 10 shots being fired in quick succession.

A witness told the South Ward Patch that she woke from a nap to what sounded like firecrackers going off. “Then I realized it was the O.K. Corral” she said of the bullets.
